Office of Higher Education Partnerships Masters Certification Programs
The Office of Higher Education Partnerships established programs to increase the number of highly qualified teachers in high need areas.  These programs support teachers interested in certification in mathematics, science, TESOL and special education by providing tuition free masters programs.  Additional programs were formed to meet the needs of Title I schools.

The programs are unique in that they operate as cohorts.  Teachers apply via an application process and cohorts of approximately 20 people are formed.  By operating in cohorts, we ensure a high level of collegial and administrative support, as well as control of program timelines.

The following programs are in operation:

Bowie State University Masters in Special Education

Bowie State University Masters in Reading (for teachers in Title I schools)

Johns Hopkins University Masters in Education Studies w emphasis in Gifted Education (for teachers  in Title I schools)

Loyola College Masters in Science Education

            McDaniel College Masters in TESOL

            Towson University Masters in Mathematics

University of Maryland Masters in Mathematics Education

New programs are formed as funding becomes available.  Teachers can receive information on programs by accessing the Office of Higher Education Partnerships Webpage or calling the office at 301-627-7288.

Newly authorized programs are posted and advertized on the PGCPS homepage, under Professional Development and the Office of Higher Education Partnerships.
