Welcome to the Green Valley Academy at Edgar Allan Poe website.  Green Valley is an alternative high school/middle school in the Prince George's County Public School System. We provide instruction and support to students in Prince George's County who are over age for their current grade level and have had trouble adjusting to the mainstream high school and middle school environments, both academically and socially.  Those students are referred to Green Valley Academy by their base high school through an application process.  We also accept students that have been expelled and/or court-referred to our program.  All applicants are interviewed and must agree to follow the rules and regulations of the program.  Please visit our site often to stay informed of upcoming events and important dates, as well as to see the progress of our soaring eagles.

Green Valley Academy at Edgar Allan Poe

Green Valley Academy is currently moving from Green Valley in Temple Hills to Edgar Allan Poe in Suitland.  All students accepted into the program will report to Edgar Allan Poe.  We will begin interviewing and accepting Middle School students after August 29.

Behavioral points are based on respect, responsibility,
attentiveness, positive interaction and feedback within the entire school. Green Valley enforces a
uniform policy that must be adhered to at all times.

We provide smaller class sizes and a diverse staff to assist students with their academic goals. Students are evaluated not only based upon their grades, but also their behavior and appearance using our Student Point System. Students gain points by drafting a solid daily goal and behaving appropriately throughout the course of the day.  When a specified number of points have been accumulated by the student, he/she is rewarded.
