Board Award's Night 2013 - The Board of Education sponsored it's Award's Night on May 22, 2013.  Glenridge Elementary's very own Dr. Gloria McCoy was honored as a nominee for The Washington Post's Distinguished Educational Leadership Award.  Dr. McCoy's nomination shows her tireless efforts to educate all students in the community, eagerness to train and develop a staff that believes intelligence can be grown, and an uncanny ability to produce ever-increasing positive results, improvements, and enhancements.  Dr. McCoy is a bastion of leadership and light in the community.  The event was attended by several of Glenridge Elementary staff members.

Glenridge Elementary School wishes all staff and students a safe and sensational summer filled with relaxation, expectation, fun, and reading!!

 

 

Summer Office Hours at Glenridge Elementary School The summer work schedule will begin the week of June 17 and end the week of August 5, 2013.  The week of July 1 - 4, 2013 will be a three-day workweek based on the July 4th holiday on Thursday of that week.  During this time period schools and offices will be open Monday through Thursday with extended work hours from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

  

 

 Take Advantage of the Summer Reading Program at the Prince George's County Memorial Library System  Summer is a great time to read about your favorite series of mystery books, act out a play with friends, or learn seventeen new facts about panda bears.  Take advantage!  The Prince George's County Memorial Library System offers a vast variety of books in its Summer Reading Program.  Take Advantage of PreK-8 Summer Reading Lists today

  Prince George's County Back to School Fair: Saturday, August 10, 2013 - Prince George's County will host it's annual Back to School Fair on Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 10am - 2pm at the Showplace Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.  Clink here for more information. 

  

  

    

 Glenridge Elementary's Inspire ELO Welcomes Parents and Guardians - Glenridge Elementary welcomed parents and guardians of students who attend the Inspire ELO after school program.  Parents and guardians were provided with information on the program and were able to visit their students ELO classroom to see the program in action.

Glenridge Elementary School Fourth Graders Celebrate the MSA through Song and Dance - In honor of the MSA, a group of Glenridge Elementary fourth graders have taken to the microphone to encourage their school and students all across the county to do their best during the 2012 - 2013 MSA. Calling themselves Advanced Talent, the group of nine and ten year old boys have debuted their first single and video entitled "Be Amazing" (seen below).

 




 

 

Staff and Students Celebrate the MSA with Spirit Week - The MSA is here!  Catch the spirit!  The staff and students at Glenridge Elementary are kicking off the MSA with its annual Spirit Week. From February 25, 2013 thru March 1, 2013, Glenridge dresses according to themes: Pajama Day, Sports Day, Wacky Day (pictured), College Day, and Class Color Day.  Spirit Week culminates at the end of the week with a pep rally.  These activities really build excitement and encourage students to do their very best on the MSA.

stemfairlogoGlenridge Elementary School S.T.E.M. Fair - Students in Grades 3 - 5 are preparing for their S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Fair Projects.  Every student in third, fourth, and fifth grade are required to complete an individual project.  S.T.E.M. Fair project boards can be purchased from Glenridge Elementary School for $3.00.  STEM Fair Projects are connected to students' Science grades.  Any part undone will result in a score of "0".

All projects are due March 22, 2013.

TargetGrantGlenridge Elementary Receives $25,000 from Target - On September 21, 2012, representatives from Target visited Glenridge Elementary School and presented a check for $25,000.  Glenridge Elementary was selected to receive Target's School Giveaway grant. As one of his final acts as superintendent, Dr. Hite selected Glenridge to receive the honor.  Glenridge was 1 out of 100 recipients in the nation to receive the grant.  To read more about Target's visit to Glenridge, visit the Sentinel website.


MARS pic 2Parents and Students Read Together - In Glenridge Elementary's M.A.R.S. (Math and Reading Success) after school program, parents and students from kindergarten through third grade participate with teachers in interactive read alouds.  The parents and students return to school every Monday to learn strategies to help strengthen students reading and mathematics proficiencies.  It is still not too late to go to M.A.R.S.

  


PBIS - This year Glenridge Elementary School has implemented PBISPBIS stands for "Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports".  This school-wide initiative was implemented to enhance behavioral outcomes for all students.  As a reward for their achievements, students receive Mustang Money which will allows them to visit the school store and participate in activities.  Students are rewarded for their daily achievements in the following areas:  Respect, Responsibility, and Safety.  Please encourage your child daily to practice and follow the PBIS requirements and ask them how much Mustang Money they have earned.
