Reading is Fundamental - In March, students participated in a Reading is Fundamental (RIF) book distribution at Glenridge Elementary. Each student in grades PreK - 6 visited the media center to find a varied array of books. The students were able to choose a book for their personal collection based on their personal interest and reading ability. For more information on RIF, please visit http://www.rif.org.

Glenridge Hosts Community Budget Forum on Thursday, March 13, 2014 - Glenridge Elementary will host a community budget forum on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 5:00 pm in the school's multipurpose room. Topics of discussion will include Student-Based and Title 1 budgets.
Congratulations to Simone Pugh, A Winner of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Poster Contest - Simone Pugh, a Glenridge Elementary School Third Grader was one of the grand prize winners for PGCEA's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Poster Contest. Her prize? $50.00! Simone's poster (pictured below) was honored at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Kingsford Elementary. Among her supporters who attended the event were Simone's mother; her teacher, Ms. Banks; and the Principal of Glenridge Elementary, Dr. McCoy.
Glenridge Elementary Students Visits the Washington Redskins' Santa Shoppe at Fed Ex Field - Students from Glenridge Elementary School were selected to take place in a holiday event sponsored by the Washington Redskins. The Redskins locker room was transformed into Santa's workshop. Students had the opportunity to meet players from the Redskins, select a toy, and even sit on Santa's lap.

PGCPS Winter Break Packets - Winter Break packets are available for download here. These county-created packets are available for kindergarten through eighth grade.
Glenridge Gives Back - Kids Helping Kids Food Drive
Glenridge Elementary School participated in the 'Kids Helping Kids Food Drive' from Oct 14 to Nov 1! Food donations were brought in by students, staff, and their families. The items were boxed up and collected at the end of the drive by the Maryland Food Bank.

PBIS - Glenridge Elementary School has implemented PBIS. PBIS stands for "Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports". This school-wide initiative was implemented to enhance behavioral outcomes for all students. As a reward for their achievements, students receive Mustang Bucks which will allows them to visit the school store and participate in activities. Students are rewarded for their daily achievements in the following areas: Respect, Responsibility, and Safety. Please encourage your child daily to practice and follow the PBIS requirements and ask them how much Mustang Money they have earned.
Board Award's Night 2013 - The Board of Education sponsored it's Award's Night on May 22, 2013. Glenridge Elementary's very own Dr. Gloria McCoy was honored as a nominee for The Washington Post's Distinguished Educational Leadership Award. Dr. McCoy's nomination shows her tireless efforts to educate all students in the community, eagerness to train and develop a staff that believes intelligence can be grown, and an uncanny ability to produce ever-increasing positive results, improvements, and enhancements. Dr. McCoy is a bastion of leadership and light in the community. The event was attended by several of Glenridge Elementary staff members.
