• Giving Together

In this season of thanksgiving, please join the Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) Holiday Harvest campaign as part of our fall Giving Together service initiative.

From feeding our most vulnerable to raising awareness of communities most in need, the Holiday Harvest campaign will support three community organizations: United Way of the National Capital Area, Capital Area Food Bank and the Excellence in Education Foundation for PGCPS.

Here is how you can help:

United Way of the National Capital Area Annual Campaign (November 13 - December 15)
Through our annual fundraising campaign, employees can submit an electronic pledge form for automatic payroll deductions (to begin January 2018) or make a one-time donation in support of a non-profit organization of choice.

Capital Area Food Bank -- “Give the Gift of Food” (November 16 - December 18)

Give the Gift of Food as we lend a helping hand in support of the Capital Area Food Bank. In the wake of three catastrophic hurricanes, the Capital Area Food Bank stepped in to send four tractor truckloads of food and supplies to residents hardest hit in Florida, Puerto Rico, and Texas. Now, the food bank needs our help to replenish resources. In return for each $25 contribution, donors will receive the digital cookbook Bountiful Bowls.

Hunger can be found in every Prince George’s County neighborhood, but we have the power to do something about it. Please also consider volunteering with the Capital Area Food Bank this holiday season. Three people can sort 1,500 pounds of food in just one morning

    About Giving Together

Giving Together will focus on specific community needs through coordinated service activities, such as donation drives and fundraisers. Giving Together will work to mobilize 209 schools and centers, nearly 130,000 students, and more than 19,000 employees to help communities in need.

“Service begins at home, right here in the neighborhoods that support our schools,” said Dr. Kevin M. Maxwell, Chief Executive Officer. “I am excited about giving back through Giving Together. This is an opportunity to show our communities how much we care.”

Each month, PGCPS will highlight an area of need that impacts students, families and the greater Prince George’s County community.
