• Mandatory Uniform Policy

    Effective August 2007

    Francis T. Evans Elementary has become a mandatory uniform school effective August 2007.  A uniform is the required dress for each day.  The official uniform is navy blue and light blue.  The uniform specifics are as follows:

    Girls Uniform

    Bottoms:

    • Navy blue jumpers (navy short may be worn under jumper)
    • Navy blue skirts (kick pleat or full pleat)
    • Navy blue slacks/shorts-cotton twill or khaki fabric
    • Skirts, shorts, and skorts must be finger tip length

    Shirts:

    • Light blue
    • Peter Pan blouse, oxford, polo or turtle neck
    • Long or short sleeved collared shirts with buttons

    Accessories:

    • White or navy bobby socks, anklets,or knee socks
    • Tight-plain white (no patterns) or navy
    • Shoes-closed, rubber soled black or navy leather or leather-like and/or sneakers (plain athletic shoes are acceptable, no designer shoes, no gold, red, silver trimmings, no heelies)
    • The wearing of jewelry is strictly limited to watches and traditional hoop or post earrings. Hoop earrings should be no larger than the size of a quarter.

    Boys Uniform

    Shirts:

    • Light blue shirts (oxford, polo, dress or turtle neck)
    • Long or short sleeve with button

    Pants:

    • Navy blue pants cotton twill or khaki fabric
    • Shorts (between April 15-October 1) no more than 3 inches above the knee
    • Pants and shorts worn at waist level

    Accessories:

    • Solid navy blue, black or white socks
    • Black leather belt
    • Solid navy blue sweater vest
    • Navy button or zip cardigan sweater (no hoodies)
    • Shoes-black or leather-like (plain athletic shoes are acceptable, no designer shoes, no gold, red silver, trimmings).  Shoes with visible white soles (on the outside of the shoe, not the bottom) or other colored marking or patterns are not permitted.

    Outer Winter Wear: Coats, jackets, hats, gloves, etc. have no requirements.  In the case of inclement weather your child may choose to wear boots to school.  If the boots are black they may be worn during the school day. If they are another color, students are expected to bring their regular uniform shoes with them to school to change into.

    Items That Are Not Acceptable:  Bandanas, logos, designer items, plaids, and writing on clothes.  Sweatshirts or sweatshirts with hoods are not acceptable.

    All pants must be sized to fit appropriately eliminating bagging or sagging.  Cargo pockets and capri styled are prohibited.  All shirts are to be tucked into the pants, skirts, skorts, and shorts.  A belt must be worn if belt loops are on the garments.  No visible labels or logos on any article of clothing.

    Compliance Policy: When a student does not comply with the above stated dress code, the following administrative procedure are followed:

    A.  For the first violation, the child's teacher contacts the parent(s) or guardian(s) and notifies the principal that a violation has occurred.

    B.  For a second violation, the teacher refers the student to the principal who contacts the parent(s) or guardian(s) by telephone and in writing that a second violation has occurred.

    C.  Repeated violations will be deemed as persistent disobedience or insubordination and will be dealt with in accordance with the Code of Student Conduct.
