UPPER MARLBORO, MD -- Two educators from Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) will be recognized by The Washington Post for their outstanding contributions to education.
Frances Fuchs Early Childhood Center principal Diedra Tramel will receive the Distinguished Educational Leadership Award.
Superintendent of Schools William R. Hite praised the two for their exemplary leadership and achievements.
“Ms. Tramel exemplifies the strength in school leadership that we are striving for in all Prince George’s County public schools. Not only does she build a strong academic foundation for her students, she supports the professional growth of her staff and creates a welcoming and supportive environment for parents and community members,” said Dr. Hite. “Mr. Harley sets a shining example for students of what they can achieve through dedication, hard work, and passion. The success of his students as they compete at the national level and pursue careers in music is testimony to his work.”
In her letter of recommendation, Board Member Rosalind Johnson described the atmosphere that Tramel has created at Frances Fuchs: "Upon entering the school building, a welcoming spirit envelops you. Every child is treated as though they were her own."
