Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:
Welcome to a brand new school year! As the newly appointed principal of Fairmont Heights High School, I am honored to serve and lead you. I already feel the excitement of a fresh start. I am enthusiastically prepared to continue carrying the torch that will lead our school in a direction of restoration and reveal the true essence of what Fairmont Heights High School represents—pride, honor, community, and scholarly excellence.
My mission is centered on the promotion of academic excellence, high and rigorous standards, data-driven analysis, family engagement, and meaningful professional development. I strongly believe in the power of community, family, and collegial sharing and look forward to building solid relationships with you as we move forward this school year.
As with all new things, change is inevitable. As we move forward, I will make every effort to partner and collaborate with you to ensure that we make the best possible decisions for our young adults. Every student will find new and exciting programs to support our efforts in preparation of their academic leadership and success. In light of this, administration, teachers, and staff have adopted several initiatives to better address & support student needs.
- A school-wide instructional and discipline model that will increase student achievement and improve the school’s climate.
- A Student Accountability Center (SAC) to proactively manage student behavior and build character.
- Monthly parent/guardian town hall meetings to inform families about school/district initiatives that affect students.
As we work to build our community, remember that you are an important partner to our success. As such, I humbly seek your support and active participation as we work to achieve a Blue Ribbon status! We can reach this goal together! Again, welcome to the ‘new’ Fairmont Heights High School where we are “Delivering on the Dream!”
Sincerely,
Nakia Nicholson
Principal
