• Thursday, March 22 - Code Orange - Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) – Schools and offices will open with a two hour delay. EMERGENCY PERSONNEL must report to work on time and are not eligible for liberal leave.

    • There will be no work-study transportation. (Those students should not report to school.)
    • There will be no half-day Early Childhood Center (ECC), half-day Special Education Programs, or half-day PreK.
    • Any other school program requiring transportation prior to 12 noon will NOT have transportation, including Howard B. Owens Science Center,JA Finance Park, and William S. Schmidt Center (Camp Schmidt)
    • All field trips will be cancelled.
    • Food Services will offer breakfast.
    We will re-evaluate at 6:30am.

Registration for all English language learners begins at the International School Counseling Office (ISCO).  In order to register a student in the Prince George's County Public Schools, the following is needed: 

Proof of Residency      

Proof of Birth/Citizenship      


Documentation of Previous Educational Program  


1.  Proof of Residency: 

*  A house contract, lease agreement or resident manager's letter is acceptable.  If the family is living in the residence of a friend or relative, the homeowner/leaseholder must provide a notarized statement signed by both the parent and the homeowner regarding the fact, in addition the lease.  Schools may require additional documentation within 30 days.  

2.  Proof of Birth/Citizenship: 

*  Birth certificate - required 

*  Students must be accompanied by the person with thom they live, either a parent, court appointed guardian or legal custodian.  Please bring parental/guardian identification. 

Information about legal custody or court appointed guardianship may be obtained from the Family Court (301-780-8000) or the Register of Wills (301-952-3250) in Upper Marlboro. 

3.  Evidence of Up-to-Date Immunizations: 

  • Maryland law requires every student to be immunized against DPT (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus), polio, measles (rubella and rubeola), and mumps (MMR), hepatitis B and varicella (Chicken Pox) vaccines.  Physician documented history of chicken pox disease is acceptable in lieu of vaccine history.  Complete dates (day, month, year) for every dose of each immunization are required. 
  • The Prince George's County Health Department provides free immunizations by appointment.  Call (301) 583-3300 for appointment times and locations of clinics.  

4.  Documentation of Previous Educational Program: 

*  School records or original transcripts in the native language and official transcripts are required for high school students.  School records for elementary and middle school students should be presented, if available.
