Uniform Policy Updated: 2009-2010

   

All students are required to wear the mandatory uniform the first day of school, Monday, August 24, 2009. The approved vendor for Ernest Just Middle School for purchasing uniforms with the school logo will be All American Wear; 5001-B Forbes Blvd., Lanham, MD 20706.

Students are encouraged to purchase polo shirts with the EEJMS logo but are not required to do so. Uniforms without logo may be purchased at local stores as long as the uniforms comply with the EEJMS Uniform Policy.The official school uniform is as follows Mandatory Items

All students clothing must be worn to size and must fit correctly. The clothes cannot sag, be baggy or tight. The items must be worn at the natural waistline as stated in the PGCPS Dress Code Policy.

Ernest Just Middle School “Dress for Success” Uniform Policy

                 Uniform Dress is required by all students.  All uniforms must be neat and clean. Students should practice good hygiene and take pride in their appearance. Hair must be completely groomed prior to arrival at school.  If a student is out of uniform, he/she will be sent to the main office. A parent or guardian will be required to bring the appropriate attire to school for the student. Violations to the dress code will result in school disciplinary action in accordance with the Code of Student Conduct.  The school uniform program will accommodate student’s religious expression.

 
     
 

Compliant

 Items listed below are in compliance with the mandatory uniform policy. The policy is for all students.

Polo Shirts (cotton, poly blend) NO OVERSIZED SHIRTS

Burgundy, Navy Blue or White long or short-sleeved, polo style shirt with two or three clear or appropriate colored buttons at the neck according to grade level.  White undershirts only.

Shirt must be tucked in securely

Other Tops (Vests, Sweaters, Fleece Sweatshirts)

NO OVERSIZED TOPS

All sweaters, fleece, sweat shirts, vests must be worn over the uniform shirt.

All sweaters, fleece, sweat shirts, vests must be burgundy or navy blue

Belts (solid black or brown)

Leather or leather like belt must be worn through the loops and be buckled securely at the waist

Belt buckles should be gold or silver toned.

Shoes (solid Black, brown, white or navy blue)

Shoes must be solid in color

Stripe or insignia must be solid navy blue, black, white, or brown to correspond with shoe

Shoe laces must be solid black, brown, white or navy blue

Shoes must be fully enclosed

Boots may be worn during inclement weather and changed upon arrival at school to the uniform shoe.

 

Dress Violations

 Items listed below are in violation of the mandatory uniform policy.

Shirts…

Any colored piping, embroidery, designs, logos, characters, names or numbers of any size other than a school logo.

Sleeveless tops, fish net, crop tops, v-neck, halters, midriff-bearing, muscle, undershirts and tee-shirts are not allowed.

Undershirts may not be colored, white only.

Other Tops

Oversized or hooded sweaters, fleece, vests or sweat shirts, no exceptions

Tops with zipper, designs, logos, characters, names or numbers of any size other than the school logo.

Jackets and coats may not be worn in class and must be kept in the student’s locker

Belts

Stripes, additional colors, design insignia, characters, bottle caps, rhinestones, plastic, gel, eyelets, graphics, patches, inappropriate language, names or numbers of any size.

No LCD billboard or graphic belt buckles

 

Shoes

All tennis shoes must be solid black, blue, brown or white

Shoes may not contain colored stripes or designer insignias, additional colors, characters, names or numbers of any size.

Winter boots and snow shoes must be changed upon entering the building

No sandals, flip flops, open toe or open heeled shoes
