Prekindergarten Program
Application Criteria

Families may apply if the student...
  • is four years old by September 1 of the school year in which they are requesting entrance
  • is homeless or resides within the identified school boundaries *Babysitter (daycare) transfers and/or sibling "tag-alongs" are not permitted.

or

  •  *exhibits a lack of readiness or demonstrates developmental delays as identified by an IEP placement or Early Entrance testing.  These children will be admitted on a space available basis. Children eligible for Early Entrance testing must turn four between September 2-October 15. 

COMAR 13A.06.02.03 A.-B. Student Eligibility states (A) a local school system shall enroll all 4-year-old applicants who are from families with economically disadvantaged backgrounds or who are homeless. (B) For vacancies remaining after compliance with §A of this regulation, a local school system may enroll 4-year-old applicants who are not from families with economically disadvantaged backgrounds but who represent a student population that exhibits a lack of readiness* in personal and social development, language and literacy, mathematical thinking, scientific thinking, social studies, the arts, or physical development and health.

Prekindergarten registration for the 2009-10 school year begins April 27, 2009. 

Applications are accepted at the boundary school.
