OUR MISSION:

We believe that student achievement is our chief priority and that all students have the potential to be lifelong and confident learners. Our students will develop their individual talents, critical thinking, and technological skills by participating in an engaging, rigorous, and empowering learning environment.  Continuous commitment to students by all stakeholders will ensure that our students are self-directed, balanced, and will ultimately be college and career ready for a global society.  We build the foundation of this safe and optimum learning environment through meaningful relationships and with high expectations for all.

OUR VISION:

We aim to provide a safe and orderly environment where every child will receive high quality, rigorous and enriching instruction, as evidenced by students meeting or exceeding grade level performance on international standardized assessments. In partnership with our parents and community, we will prepare our students to be college and/or career ready and globally competitive.

AVID is expanding this year.  We will have two 7th grade classes this year on our way to working directly with 150 students in the program.  We will also take AVID school wide this year with all students carrying organizer 3 inch binders, using Cornell Notes in all classes, and having Socratic Seminar discussions in their classes to work on our goal of helping all students to be College and Career Ready.  AVID and MYP will be working together to provide a rigorous and engaging academic experience for all of our students.

AVID is a national college readiness program targeting students in the middle range of academic standings, with the goal of enrolling them into the most challenging classes. Motivated students enroll in AVID upon the recommendations of their teachers and after an interview and application process.  In AVID, students are exposed early and often to the college experience through rigorous instruction, project-based learning, intensive critical reading and writing, and other opportunities.
