April 17, 2013
Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Wednesday, April 23, 2013, Prince George's County Turnaround Schools will have a half-day closing. Schools within the Turnaround Cluster are as follows:
Benjamin Stoddert Middle
Drew Freeman Middle
G. James Gholson Middle
Oxon Hill Middle
Thomas Johnson Middle
Thurgood Marshall Middle
This half-day closing will allow all of our teachers to participate in rigorous training and professional development. Benjamin Stoddert, Drew Freeman, G. James Gholson, and Thurgood Marshall staff will participate in professional development led by Research for Better Teaching. Oxon Hill Middle and Thomas Johnson Middle will participate in professional development led by Mosaica Education Turnaround. Both organizations aim to build individual and institutional capacity to sustain increased student achievement.
In an effort to provide your child with a quality education, teachers will continue to participate in professional development opportunities while offering a challenging curriculum.
Together, we are committed to excellence. Thank you for your time and support. For additional information and/or questions, please feel free to contact your child’s principal.
Best regards,
Edward Ryans, Ed.D.
