HELPFUL HINTS FOR KINDERGARTEN SUCCESS

  • Practice writing first and last name 
  • Practice your home address and phone number 
  • Practice TYING shoes 
  • Practice forming/writing letters of the alphabet (Uppercase & Lowercase) 
  • Recognize letters, sounds, and their relationships in forming words 
  • Practice counting objects up to 50 and sequencing groups of 0-20 
  • Practice classifying and sorting objects by characteristics 
  • Identifying shapes and characteristics of shapes 
  • Practice writing basic sentences using sentence stems:
    I like ____; I can _____; We can ____; I go ____; The dog _____; My mom ______ 
  • READ EVERYDAY FOR AT LEAST 20-30 minutes 
  • Practice retelling stories read together and identify beginning, middle, end, characters, setting, problem and solution 
  • Discuss with your Kindergartener your behavior expectations in school 
  • REVIEW RULES AND SAFETY PROCEDURES when coming to school, during school, dismissal from school and STRANGERS 
  • PLEASE CHECK YOUR KINDERGARTENERS BACKPACK DAILY FOR HOMEWORK, NOTES, IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND FORMS
