  • UNIFORM REMINDERS

    All students must be in compliance with the DHES uniform policy. Navy blue pants, shorts, jumpers and skorts are required. Light blue shirts are required. Black or brown shoes must be worn. No open toe shoes or sandals are permissible. Thank you for your cooperation in advance.

     Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports 

    To celebrate the students who have earned at least 80 blue Panda Paws during 1st quarter, they will be invited to participate in a Movie & Popcorn activity on Friday, November 1st. These students received Paws for being Prepared, Respectful individuals with integrity and Determined to Excel. All students will have opportunities to redeem their Paws throughout the school year. Please encourage your child(ren) to show their Panda PRIDE everyday in order to continue to earn their Panda Paws.

     CAFETERIA UPDATE:

     The student lunch status has been update in the system as of October 1, 2013.  If you have not completed a free & reduced lunch application, you may do so online at pgcps.org or you may obtain an application in the main office.  Please be advised that until you have an approved form on file, you will be required to send your child with the full lunch price of $2.60 daily.    

     

    The SCHOOL HOURS:  School begins promptly at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 1:55 p.m.  Remember, to receive the full benefit of the instructional program at District Heights Elementary School, it is important to be present and on time every day.  Please do not send your children earlier than 7:25 a.m. because they are not supervised.  

     

    SCHOOL SUPPLIES:  Students should come to school prepared with the necessary supplies every day and ready to learn. Enclosed you will find a detailed supply list so that your child can start the year with all required items. 

     

    ****SCHOOL UNIFORMS: All students are required to wear school uniforms beginning on the first day of school. THERE IS A CHANGE TO OUR UNIFORM POLICY. ONLY LIGHT BLUE SHIRTS ARE PERMITTED.

     STUDENT AGENDA HANDBOOKS:  Students Agenda Handbooks will be required to assist with home-school communication, time management and goal setting. Agenda Books will be distributed during the first week of school.  

     

     HOMEWORK:  Homework is assigned nightly.  Parents are requested to help their children, by establishing some homework guidelines and cooperating with the teachers in seeing that the assignments are completed.     

     

     ATTENDANCE:  Your child should be in school on time and in classes every day.  Time lost from instruction can  never be regained simply by doing make-up work.  Illnesses and emergencies are excused absences.  A complete attendance policy is available at www.pgcps.org.  In addition, your child’s teacher will discuss attendance during their grade level back to school night. Students cannot be expected to perform in a satisfactory manner if they are not present for instruction.  It is imperative that students arrive on time daily.  DISTRICT HEIGHTS DOES NOT OFFER CHILDCARE BEFORE OR AFTER SCHOOL! TEACHERS ARE REQUIRED BY CONTRACT TO RECEIVE PLANNING TIME BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL AND CAN NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR STUDENTS BEFORE OR AFTER SCHOOL HOURS.
