Cool Spring is a comprehensive elementary school that receives Title 1 funding and serves students in Head Start and Pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.  The school was opened under the leadership of Paula Poulis in August 1994 as a Multi-age Holistic Learning Center.  The school served Kindergarten through third grade from its inception and in 2003 the population grew to include Head Start and Pre-Kindergarten through sixth grade. Our community includes students who reside within the Adelphi and the Hyattsville boundary.  These neighborhoods are located approximately five miles from the boundary of the District of Columbia and a mile from the Montgomery County Maryland line.

Cool Spring consists of self-contained classrooms with the exception of fifth and sixth grades, which are departmentalized.  In addition, ESOL, Special Education, and Talented and Gifted students are a vital part of the school’s community.  The population is approximately 450 students, many of who come from immigrant homes where Spanish is the primary language.
