BACKGROUND: On October 10, men and male role models throughout the county will answer Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) call to action to get involved in education through the annual Men Make a Difference Day event.
Many PGCPS schools will host special events that encourage fathers, male guardians, and other significant male role models to participate in special activities with students.

Accokeek Academy
14400 Berry Road, Accokeek
8:45 a.m.
Activity: Male role models will have donuts in the morning and the opportunity to visit their child’s or family member’s classroom. In addition, five football players from Gwynn Park High School will provide words of encouragement during a special forum for male students.
Beltsville Academy
4300 Wicomico Avenue, Beltsville
All-day
Activity: As male role models arrive to Beltsville Academy, they will be greeted with football clappers at the front entrance of the school. They will also have the opportunity to visit their child’s or family member’s classroom.
Benjamin Tasker Middle School
4901 Collington Road, Bowie
All day
Activity: Male role models will observe their child’s or family member’s classroom and get involved in the excitement of teaching and learning.
Drew Freeman Middle School
2600 Brooks Drive, Suitland
All-day
Activity: Male role models will have the opportunity to visit their child’s or family member’s classroom.
Frances Fuchs Early Childhood Center
11011 Cherry Hill Road, Beltsville
10 - 11:30 a.m. and 1 - 2:30 p.m.
Activity: Male role models will enjoy breakfast and observe their child’s or family member’s classroom.
Gwynn Park High School
13800 Brandywine Road, Brandywine
8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Activity: Male role models will visit their child’s or family member’s classroom and tour the school. They will also have the opportunity to join the Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) and receive a certificate of appreciation.
Heather Hills Elementary School12605 Heming Lane, Bowie
All-day
Activity: Heather Hills ES will host a career day along with celebrating male role models. Parents and community members will share with student’s information on their careers and all guests are invited to attend a luncheon.
Lamont Elementary School7101 Good Luck Road, New Carrollton
8:30 a.m.
Activity: Male role models will attend an assembly in their honor where the principal and parent outreach representative will share how fathers can get and stay involved in their child’s education. Students will read poems to male role models with the titles as “My Star Dad,” “Hero Dad,” or “Our Great Role Models.” Role Models will also have the opportunity to visit their child’s or family member’s classroom.
North Forestville Elementary School
2311 Ritchie Road, Forestville
All-day
Activity: Male role models will enjoy breakfast before visiting their child’s or family member’s classroom. In the classroom, role models will have the opportunity to read stories to students.
Rogers Heights Elementary School4301 58th Avenue, Bladensburg

Activity: Male role models are invited to spend the day and visit their child’sor family member’s classroom. Role models will also be asked to leave encouraging messages for students to be displayed in the lobby of the school.
Thomas G. Pullen K-8 Creative and Performing Arts (CPA)
700 Brightseat Road, Landover
9 -11 a.m.
Activity: Male role models will be treated to breakfast, have the opportunity to participate in a round table discussion, and a dedication ceremonyin their honor.
Waldon Woods Elementary School
10301 Thrift Road, Clinton
8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Activity: Male role models will attend an assembly in their honor, and have the opportunity to visit their child’s or family member’s classroom.
William Paca Elementary School7801 Sheriff Road, Landover8:30 a.m.
Activity: Male role models will participate in a day of mentoring students at William Paca Elementary School. The day will feature a performance by the William Paca Boys Chorus and a skit entitled: Men Wear Many Hats.
Yorktown Elementary School
7301 Race Track Road, Bowie
All-day
Activity: Male role models will experience a day in the life of a Yorktown student by visiting their child’s or family member’s classroom and participating in classroom activities.
