HYATTSVILLE, MD– Northwestern High School junior, Victoria Okafor, has been selected to perform with the Washington National Opera in Giacomo Puccini's "TOSCA”, at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

“Congratulations to Ms. Victoria Okafor for this wonderful opportunity,” said Dr. William R. Hite, Jr., Superintendent of Schools. “I am proud of her accomplishments and know that she will represent the students of Prince George's County Public Schools well.”

Okafor, who will perform in the September performances of Puccini’s “TOSCA”, auditioned and was hired to perform with the Children's Chorus of the opera under the baton of the world renowned conductor, Placido Domingo.

Okafor is enrolled in the Jim Henson Academy of Arts, Media and Communication at Northwestern High School. She is an active member of all Northwestern High School choirs; studies music theory; and is an Advanced Placement French student.
