PGCPS Science Bowl Competition Kicks Off 27th Season

BACKGROUND:
The award-winning science quiz program Science Bowl will kick off its 27th season on September 25. Four middle school teams of four students each – three players and one alternate – will compete. Winners of the two matches will also compete to determine the quarterfinalist of the day, who will return on March 26, 2013 to play in the Middle School Semifinals and Finals.

Science Bowl has both elementary and middle school competitions, and more than 7,000 children have participated since the competition began in 1986. Many have gone on to participate in other competitions, such as It's Academic, and to distinguish themselves in college and careers. Science Bowl has also won numerous awards for outstanding children's programming, including the Telly and CableAce.

Science Bowl shows can be viewed on the school system's website at www.pgcps.org or on YouTube. New shows will air this fall on the school system's cable channels 96 (Comcast) and 38 (Verizon).
