PGCPS TO HOST RESIDENT TEACHER PROGRAM INFO SESSIONS

UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) will host information sessions over the next month for the Resident Teacher Program, an accelerated training program for recent college graduates and professionals.

The Resident Teacher Program is open to professionals who are interested in changing career paths and recent college graduates with degrees in fields other than education. The sessions will start on Sept. 18 and run through Oct. 16.

Participants must meet state-established guidelines before the five-week training program begins. Training is followed by a minimum four-week internship in the assigned classroom for the school year. The program includes weekly training sessions during the school year. Candidates who successfully complete the pre-employment training and internship will receive a Resident Teacher Certificate from the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), followed by full certification when program requirements and other guidelines are met.

Sept.19            Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. High School, Upper Marlboro

Oct. 9              Beltsville Academy, Beltsville

Oct. 10             Melwood Elementary School, Upper Marlboro

Oct. 16             Templeton Elementary School, Riverdale
