Board of Education Officially Welcomes Interim Superintendent

UPPER MARLBORO, MD—The Prince George’s County Board of Education officially welcomed Dr. Alvin L. Crawley as Interim Superintendent of Schools during today’s System Oversight Meeting.

Dr. Crawley’s first day in Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) was Tuesday.

“The Board of Education is excited that Dr. Crawley will join us in building a world-class school system,” said Verjeana M. Jacobs, Board Chair. “Prince George’s County Public Schools is fortunate to have someone with his expertise and passion leading our work.”

"I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the Prince George's County Public Schools community on expanding our progress," said Dr. Crawley. "This is the time for all of us to work together in support of our students."

The Board also granted a request from outgoing Superintendent William R. Hite for an early release from his contract. Dr. Hite’s last day will be Friday.
