PGCPS PREPARES NEW TEACHERS FOR UPCOMING YEAR

UPPER MARLBORO, MD—More than 400 new teachers gathered this week at Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. High School for the 2012 Professional Educator Induction Program (PEIP).

“This is the perfect time to be a teacher,” said Sharelle Stagg, Prince George's County Teacher of the Year. “Challenges will come, but others around you will help. Teaching is serious business, one that affects lives for a lifetime.”

The two-day induction program, held Aug. 6-8, was designed to ease the transition of novice teachers into the classroom setting. New teachers received guidance and training to assist them in developing their skills and knowledge.
