UPPER MARLBORO, MD —The second annual Golfing for Education Tournament, held recently at The Country Club at Woodmore, raised more than $150,000 for the Excellence in Education Foundation for Prince George’s County Public Schools.

More than 100 business leaders and community partners participated in the event on June 27.

“This year’s event was more successful than I imagined,” said Robert O. Johnson, chairman of the foundation’s Board of Directors. “Thank you to all of the business and community leaders who continue to support education in Prince George's County Public Schools.”

“We doubled our contributions this year,”
said Verjeana M. Jacobs, Board of Education Chair. “These funds will be used to provide scholarships and to support education-related programs in our district.”

Thomas H. Graham, PEPCO Region President, and Major F. Riddick, Jr., President and CEO of Strategic Solutions served as honorary co-chairs.

The foundation provides funds for scholarships, advocacy, and mentoring programs, and seeks the financial support, business experience, and expertise of the private sector to improve student learning.
