MOUNT RAINIER, MD – National non-profit KaBOOM! and insurance provider Foresters will team up with hundreds of volunteers on June 30 to build a “place of play” at Thomas Stone Elementary. The 2,500-square-foot playground will serve more than 750 families and children in the community.

Drawings by children in the Mount Rainier community were used to create the final playground design. With the help of 200 volunteers, the playground will be constructed within eight hours. Families will also be able to participate in arts and crafts, games and other activities during the build.

“What an exciting opportunity for the Mount Rainer community,” said Board of Education Member Amber Waller. “The revitalization of the Thomas Stone playground will provide a safe environment for our students and families to spend quality time.”

KaBOOM! and Foresters will collaborate on more than 20 playground builds this year.
