UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Elementary and middle school students throughout Prince George’s County were recognized at state and national levels for their mastery of the “First in Math” online program. Kenmoor Middle School eighth-grader Caleb McCammon was ranked third in the nation.

“Students really enjoy the online format of the ‘First in Math’ program,” said Dr. William R. Hite, Superintendent of Schools. “The fun and engaging program allows students to spend more time outside of class building their skills, which will enhance their performance at school.”

Last fall, the Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) Mathematics Department provided access to “First in Math” to all third through eighth grade students. The program features math challenges – ranging from single-step addition to complex algebra – in a fun, game-like format. Students work at their own pace to master skills, accumulating points/stickers along the way.
