BACKGROUND:

Students at Melwood Elementary School will be the recipients of the world’s largest candy bar on April 25 as part of World’s Finest Chocolate’s “Think Big, Eat Smart” tour. During the event, each student will receive a free jump rope, a piece of chocolate, and a brochure promoting healthy eating.


A large-scale replica of World’s Finest Chocolate’s famous fundraiser candy bar, the bar Melwood will receive weighs 12,190 pounds and is 4 feet wide, 3 feet high, and 21 feet long. It has been officially recognized as the world’s largest candy bar by the Guinness Book of World Records.


The school was selected by World’s Finest Chocolate to participate in the “Think Big, Eat Smart” tour for its efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle. Melwood students and staff currently take part in educational activities through the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s Healthy Schools program.

The “Think Big, Eat Smart” tour brings an upbeat message of moderation, portion control, and active lifestyles to schools around the county in a fun, engaging way. For more information, visit World’s Finest Chocolate’s “Think Big, Eat Smart” website.
