PGCPS to Observe 'Take Your Child to Work Day'

UPPER MARLBORO, MD -- Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) will observe “Take Your Child to Work Day” on Thursday, April 26. Sponsored by the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Foundation, this year’s theme is “Build Opportunity: 20 Years of Education, Empowerment, Experience.” This year marks the 20th anniversary of this national event, which provides students an opportunity to shadow their parent or guardian for the day in an effort to learn more about the professional work environment.

“This annual event provides an enrichment opportunity for our students, as well as a chance for parents to share their careers with their children,” said Dr. William R. Hite, Superintendent of Schools. “Some of our students may even discover a new career path through these experiences.”

Students taking part in “Take Your Child to Work Day” activities must follow PGCPS guidelines to ensure they receive an excused absence from school. To view the guidelines, visit the PGCPS “Take Your Child to Work Day” webpage.
