 SCHMIDT CENTER ADMINISTRATION BUILDING RENAMED

TO HONOR JOHN NEVILLE

BRANDYWINE, MD--The Administration Building at the William S. Schmidt Outdoor Education Center has been officially renamed in honor of longtime director John Neville.

Neville began his 46-year career with Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) in February 1967 at Beacon Heights Elementary School as a sixth grade teacher, later serving as an Elementary Science Specialist, Environmental Education Specialist, and Supervisor of Environmental Education. In addition, he was the point person for managing the William S. Schmidt Center starting with the Johnny on the Spot campsites in 1974 through the development of the residential overnight centers. He retired in 2011.

The Prince George’s County Planning Board voted in October to name the building in Neville’s honor.
“I am honored and overwhelmed with all the support and acknowledgements," Neville said. "Hard work like this could only done with awesome people.”
