Bladensburg, High Point Seniors Receive Riderwood Scholarships

UPPER MARLBORO, MDTen students from Bladensburg and High Point high schools received scholarships from the Riderwood retirement community in Silver Spring.

“I would like to congratulate these outstanding students and express my appreciation to the Riderwood community for their continued support,” said Dr. William R. Hite, Superintendent of Schools.

The recipients include:

The Riderwood Scholars Fund was created to support student staff members as they continue their formal post-secondary education. Each student will receive $6,000 for college, trade, or vocational certificate programs. Eligible candidates are student employees who are graduating in 2012; performed their jobs in an exemplary manner; and plan to attend post-secondary school in the fall of 2012. 

Riderwood’s residents and other friends of the community have consistently embraced the Scholars Fund and provided broad
support for this
initiative. It embodies their community’s commitment to the mission of “sharing our gift to create a community that celebrates life.”
