The Litter Free Schools program was established in 2005 in support of the Keep Prince George's County Beautiful initiative, an affliliate of Keep America Beautiful, Inc. It is the school system's goal to have all schools -- including speciality schools -- part of the Litter Free Schools team by the end of this school year. To make this initiative a success, we need your input - take a moment to fill out the Litter Free Schools Survey!
Joining the Litter Free Schools team is easy! Click on the links below for more information.
Start a Green Team! - Start a Green Team at your school! Form a group to include your parent liaison and representatives from your custodial staff, teachers, students, and PTA to organize and motivate volunteers to start a recycling program, implement "green" practices, and clean up and beautify school grounds! Select one individual from your team to be the contact person and email their contact info to Lynn McCawley at lmccawle@pgcps.org.
Paper Recycling Update - Abitibi is no longer able to provide recycling services to all schools. As a result, we have formed a new partnership with Georgetown Paper Stock to provide free paper recycling serves to the entire school district. Georgetown Paper Stock will begin delivering recycling bins the first week of school, beginning with schools who were recycling paper with Abitibi last school year. Please begin using the bins as soon as you receive them.
Gorgeous Prince George's Day 2008 - Schools are encouraged to plan their fall cleanup or beautification day to coincide with the county's annual Gorgeous Prince George's Day on October 18.
