Experience the creative process first hand as you play steel pans, beatbox, and create your own musical masterpiece! This PD initiates beginners and challenges arts integration experts to apply, stretch, and explore their own creativity through traditional and current music. Master Steel Pan Teaching Artist, Kevin Martin encourages teachers to conduct and play the steel pans. Then, beatboxer extraordinaire Max Bent guides teachers in the hip hop approach to making music known as sampling. Curriculum connections in math, reading, science, and social studies are made and demonstrated throughout. The workshop culminates with teachers working collaboratively to "remix" what they have learned into a unique and joyous new work of art!

In Curriculum-Based Readers Theatre (CBRT), actors do not memorize their lines, but instead, read the script aloud together. With CBRT, students and teachers create original scripts using text or concepts from other subject areas and then incorporate dramatic elements into their rehearsals and performances. Join this course to experience an audio-visual, step-by-step guide to the Curriculum-Based Readers Theatre (CBRT) process while learning online from the comfort of your home. All sessions will be recorded and made available to participants for viewing or reviewing.
