PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

  • MD certification regulations require that any individual who is professionally employed in a MD school system and who holds a SPC II or APC issued on or after January 1, 1995, must have a professional development plan (PDP) on file.

Definition

  • The Professional Development Plan (PDP) is a plan designed by the employee to describe the employee’sprofessional growth and development.  It is also a requirement to renew or advance to another  certificate.The PDP is intended to be a flexible document and can be revised.

Purpose

  • The Prince George's County Public Schools  PDP is a tool for facilitating the professional growth and development of all certificatedpersonnel within the school system. The purpose of the plan is to assist individuals to specify skill areasrequired to meet state and district goals and standards for recertification.  The PDP should be flexible andresponsive to the on-going growth of each certificated individual within the system.
