Led by Mae Missana and Gloria White, the Central High I.B. class of 2009 has earned dozens of college admissions and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of scholarships.

Ms. White won a University of Maryland Incentive Award that will cover all of her expenses at the University of Maryland in College Park. She was also admitted to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, to Towson University and to Virginia Commonwealth University. She received an additional $1,000 scholarship from the Ladies of Imani. 

Ms. Missana won a Posse Scholarship, which will cover all of her tuition at Sewanee, the University of the South. She also won a $2,000 merit scholarship and was offered a $2,500 scholarship at UMBC. 

Other I.B. seniors also got good news in the college admissions process. Nakeya Jacsobs was admitted to the University of New Haven, Towson University and St. John’s University. She won a $1,000 SAT Writing Award and a $9,000 merit award from the University of New Haven. 

Oluomachi Ebiringa was admitted to Maryland-College Park, Towson and the University of Hartford. She won an honors scholarship from Towson and an award from the Prince George’s County Scholarship Fund. 

Ashley Mitchell won admission to Maryland-College Park, Maryland-Baltimore County, Drexel and Towson. She also won $12,500 in scholarships. 

Aleisha Gillison was admitted to Spellman College and to Morgan State University. The latter offered her a Gateway Scholarship, which would pay for room, board, fees and meal plans.

Pilar Gorham has been admitted to Virginia State, Morgan State, Virginia Union and Bowie State. She won a 7^th District Youth Training Source grant for $1,000.

Javon Jordan has been admitted to North Carolina Central University.

Sharmaine Wiseman has been admitted to Bowie State and Coppin State and won a $1,000 Training Source grant.

Shanae Samuels has been admitted to Bowie State, Coppin State, Morgan State, Johnson C. Smith, Salisbury University and Virginia State. She won a $1,000 Training Source grant.

Shawntae Samuels has been accepted at Johnson C. Smith and earned a $1,000 Training Source grant.

Marketa Salley has been accepted at Johnson C. Smith, Bowie State and Coppin State. 

Marie-Laure Joseph has been accepted at Wesley College and the University of Hartford. 

Latrice Ginwright has earned admission to Salisbury University.

Osei Scott has been admitted to Wesley College in Delaware.

Elisha Kibbler has been accepted at Coppin State University.

Dora Kargbo has been accepted at Maryland-Baltimore County and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Melodye Shipmon has been accepted at Morgan State.

Javon Featherston has been accepted at Virginia Union.
