Student Access/ Fines

Student Access to the Library Media Center:

All students must have a pass to the Library Media Center during the school day.

Students may secure lunch passes to the LMC between 7:25 A.M. and 7:45 A.M. each morning.  Monthly passes are also available to students.  A sign up sheet is available at the circulation desk the last five days of each month for those students who wish to obtain a monthly pass.   The monthly passes are distributed to nineteen students per lunch period on a first come, first served basis.

When using the LMC during class time, students should present the LMC staff with a pass from their current period's teacher.  The teacher should note on the pass what the student is supposed to be doing in the LMC so the LMC staff can best monitor the students' activities and resources.

Several teachers and classes use the LMC resources daily.  Therefore, teachers sending small groups of students to the LMC, should plan their students' visit with the Library Media Specialist to ensure the resources their students need are available.

Students are expected to behave appropriately, following all Central High School and PGCPS rules when visiting the LMC.   Food and drink are not permitted.  Talking must be kept to a minimum.  Learning activities should be taking place.  Students will be issued only one warning about their behavior in the LMC before they are asked to leave.  The LMC staff reserves the right to refuse Library access to students who are disruptive.

Student Access to the Library Media Center Computers:

Students who have agreed to the conditions and terms of Central High School's Internet Use Policy will be issued an Internet Surfer's License that will be placed on the back of their student ID badge.  Use of the computers in the LMC is limited to students who come with a pass, who are wearing an ID with a Surfer's License, and who have a visible assignment.

Fines and Charges:

The following fines are levied when materials are returned late:

  • Fiction and Non-fiction:  Ten cents ($.10) per school day overdue

  • Lost Books:  Students will be charged the replacement price of each lost book.
