Family Consumer Science - Middle School

Family and Consumer Sciences at the middle school level prepare students to acquire personal skills and plan ways to transfer those skills to the workplace. Students will investigate and assume appropriate individual and family roles; understand and apply concepts of balancing work and family; and acquire skills and attitudes that lead them to contribute to the good of the community and society. Family and Consumer Sciences provide the bridges needed by all students to deal with life issues. Students in grades 6-8 are introduced to topics that include decision making, being a successful student, self image, family relationships, wellness and nutrition, career exploration, learning styles, student service, and employability skills. Through this program students will be prepared for their future.
