Biography 

Rosalind Jean Adams Johnson was born in Frederick, Oklahoma on September 16, 1944.  She moved from Oklahoma to Washington, DC in 1949 where I lived until 1954 at which time she moved to Prince George's County.  As a resident of the County Ms. Johnson attended Fairmount Heights Elementary School and Attended Fairmont Heights High School.  She completed her undergraduate studies at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD, where she majored Spanish, and minored in French. Ms. Johnson began teaching in Prince George's County in September, 1968. (APC MSDE Certification) and retired in 2000, but returned to service as a Retire/Rehire in 2000 and remained until 2003.  After that time she served as a county substitute teacher from 2003-2005.

Professional Career:
• Taught all levels of Spanish and French in Middle and High School including Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses in Spanish.
• Served as the President of the Prince George's County Federation of Teachers, AFT for 12 years; Member of the Federation of Maryland Teachers, AFT, Member of the American Federation of Teachers.
• Served as a national and international teacher trainer on using teaching and learning styles to foster high levels of learning and good classroom management.
• Designed Behavior Modification Program that was used in 2 Prince George's County Middle Schools to correct school-wide issues of discipline.
• Published Author on Multicultural Education (Manhattan Institute)

Community Activist:
• Served as president of the Applewalk Condominium Association
• Founded Mothers United for Child Support Enforcement
• Organized the South Laurel Civic Federation
• Served (Current Status) as a member of the Citizen's Advisory Committee (District 1) to the Redevelopment Authority of Prince George's County.
• Active participant in community affairs of South Laurel
• Served as a lobbyist on local, state and federal issues on education and child support enforcement

When asked what she would consider her lifelong commitment, Ms. Johnson replied, “My lifelong commitment has been to public education and to family wellbeing.”
