RaeShauna Mboma
RaeShauna Mboma has been a special educator in Prince George's County, MD since 2000. In addition to being a Prince George's County teacher, she is a product of its school system. Mrs. Mboma began her teaching career at Rose Valley Elementary School, the same elementary school she attended herself. This is a proud milestone that not many teachers can say for themselves. She has also received all of her undergraduate and graduate level teaching education from local universities. Mrs. Mboma received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Special Education and a Master's Degree in the same field from the University of Maryland College Park. In 2008 she earned a second Master's Degree in School Administration from Trinity University. Committed to keeping abreast of the latest techniques and technology in education, she is currently pursuing a doctorate in education administration.
The majority of Mrs. Mboma's teaching experience has come from working with students with severe disabilities or teachers that service them in self contained settings. She has been working in a co-teaching classroom with a general educator since 2008 while continuing to seek leadership roles where possible. Mrs. Mboma was most recently nominated for and completed the Pre-Leadership Academy in her teaching district. This Academy is a preparatory program for the Assistant Principal positions in the Prince George's County school system.
Mrs. Mboma's greatest professional achievement and honor came when she was named the
2011-2012 Teacher of the Year for Prince George's County
. Her peers at Baden Elementary School nominated her for Teacher of the Year because of her leadership, instructional effectiveness, and dedication to her students and school community. She previously served in a MEANS (Making Education Accessible in Neighborhood Schools) classroom, a program made possible through a partnership with Johns Hopkins University. Through her effective teaching skills, students in her class have performed as well as their peers within three months.
Mrs. Mboma volunteers countless hours tutoring students after school who need additional help and hosts self-esteem building chats. In addition to being the School Wellness Council chairperson, she is a member of the Student Interdisciplinary Team (SIT) and School Based Management Team (SBMT). Mrs. Mboma has also been Teacher in Charge for the past several years. She is part of Baden's professional development team and provides training and strategies for improving achievement for special education students.
Mrs. Mboma has enjoyed teaching at Baden Elementary and looks forward to serving Baden community students.
