    Phase II School Boundary Update

    The Prince George’s County Board of Education voted to approve the Phase II boundary changes recommended by Superintendent of Schools Dr. William R. Hite, Jr. during a Board Meeting on January 7, 2010.

    The Superintendent’s original recommendations for Phase II boundaries were presented to the public during a series of community forums and public hearings. The recommendations were then modified – based on the input received from the community through the forums, public hearings, and via Phase II email – and presented to the Board of Education for a vote.

    Final Phase II recommendations approved by the Board include boundary changes that will:

    • Populate the new Barack Obama ES (opening August 2009);
    • Address overcrowding in Charles Carroll MS feeder schools;
    • Add a second middle school assignment for Calverton ES students;
    • Balance enrollment between Whitehall ES and nearby schools; and
    • Adjust enrollment for Thomas Johnson MS and its feeder schools.
