Board of Education Chair Verjeana M. Jacobs, Esq., Superintendent of Schools Dr. John E. Deasy, Prince George’s County Educators’ Association (PGCEA) President Donald J. Briscoe, and Association of Supervisory, and Administrative School Personnel (ASASP) President James Smallwood joined together to announce the first list of 12 eligible schools to pilot a groundbreaking voluntary pay-for-performance program – Financial Incentive Rewards for Supervisors and Teachers (FIRST).
"Being developed jointly with our employee unions, FIRST is a strategic process for improving student achievement and enhancing employee compensation. It is not an event. Today we announced the first eligibility list, but our collaborative planning and work toward effective implementation continues," Jacobs said. "We are committed to rewarding teachers and supervisors for outstanding student performance across the school district, and we will focus this effort first on the children in schools where there is the greatest need for high-quality teachers."
